ArtOrder Concept: Usual Suspects

"We are but shadows and dust..."

This week the concept challenge from ArtOrder was to take the four defined party roles in 4th Edition DnD (Controller, Defender, Leader, Striker), and create a set of silhouettes for each one. The practice of silhouetting is extremely prevalent in the gaming industry, and successful designs are first and foremost successful silhouettes. Character read, design, uniquessness, etc. all start with the silhouette and thumbnail, and detail is really the garnish for an already great idea (for the artist, detailing is also the fun part!)

For the above, I decided to go for a fantasy bend (seemed appropriate all things considered), but the challenge did not in anyway define what genre the artist had to use. What can I say, I love sword and sorcery!

  1. Dude, you totally kicked my butt...oh well...Excellent work!!!!

  2. Thanks Piya! If you haven't already, check out Scott Robertson's "The Skillful Huntsman." It's chock full of silhouette and other art-tastic goodness.
